I believe the Orange Blossom Hobby Shop was owned by the Quick family. Classmate Louis Quick, Miami Edison 1959, ran it for years & now lives in Taiwan (last contact). Amazing place with high end brass locomotives, etc. Louis said many sales were to Latin Americans who were flying out & couldn’t purchase similar items in their home country.

My father, Jack Sawyer, and I used to frequent Orange Blossom Hobbies (aka "OB") for years. This was before my time but my father told me that they used to be across the street and moved into the bowling alley to expand. I assume this happened in the late 1950s or early 1960s. It appears, based on google maps that it's been torn down. Lots of good memories of talking hobbies in OB. Buying on the internet denies many of that kind of social interaction and brainstorming.

Yes, I remember Orange Blossom. What a magnificent place for a kid (50 years ago). I remember the models and especially when you could buy a brand new 1/24 Cox Cheetah - the most beautiful slot car ever made.

I worked in the Radio Control Department from 1974 until the store closed in Oct 2001. I could write a book about my experiences there but sadly no one would read it since The old fashion hobby shops are no longer viable. I really feel sorry for the young people today and all the things they are missing.
